I am not exactly surprise but Bono did gave me a reason to not buy his stuff. The quote from Pollara vice-president Robert Hutton is revealing:

Damn! HTML5 video and markup validation don’t play nice
I can’t complain since I use 2 different standard but still. I know my website uses valid markup just 2 of them.
First if you go to the default markup validation page and use detect automatically you will see a bunch of errors. All those error are related to the HTML5 video and audio tag.
Now, lets use the experimental HTML5 markup validator and see what I did wrong. Apparently nothing! All those pass the validation in with XHTML 1.0 strict but fail in HTML5 validation.
So, for sake of behind fair, my side is partly valid for XHTML 1.0 strict and partly valid for HTML5.

This picture is barely stage since the … guy stayed on stage for less than 3 seconds…. it’s also a scary sight….
